Liverpool striker Luis Diaz has claimed in an interview with the official website that his start to life at Anfield has taken him by surprise.

The Colombian forward arrived at Liverpool during the January transfer window in a surprise £37 million deal.

Jurgen Klopp was not expected to make any notable additions but at the eleventh hour, Diaz put pen-to-paper.

He has already caught the eye of the Liverpool supporters with his all-action approach and ability to skip past opponents.

Diaz has scored once in nine games for Liverpool but he’s already shown signs that he can replicate the form he showed at Porto.

Prior to checking in at Anfield he had scored 16 times and claimed six assists, largely operating on the left for the Portuguese top-flight outfit.

With the 25-year-old coming in for rave reviews, he has been discussing his start to life at Liverpool and admitted it’s caught him by surprise.

He told the club’s official website: “It’s been a bit of a surprise, yeah. This is how I wanted everything to work out.

“I wanted to settle as quickly as possible, as I was saying before, and to get to know the style of play and feel comfortable.

“In training and on the field, I think I’ve managed to develop a good understanding with my teammates. That’s been down to me and the coaching staff, who have helped me in this settling-in period.

“I just want to keep doing my best.”

Diaz has potential to be Liverpool star

Having arrived from the Portuguese top-flight some supporters might have expected a longer transition.

That hasn’t been the case though and the youngster already looks like he’s been at Anfield for several years.

Liverpool once again look to have some strength in depth. Diaz joins Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in the attacking department.

Klopp also has Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi in reserve.

Diaz has showcased unreal energy since joining the club and he looks every inch a player that will get Liverpool supporters off their seats.

The future looks bright with the 31-cap star running rings around Premier League defenders for the foreseeable.
