Xherdan Shaqiri has given his thoughts on Liverpool’s chances of doing the quadruple this season.
The former Reds winger was speaking via Sky Sports Premier League on Twitter. In the clip, the 30-year-old said that barring injuries, Liverpool have a chance to pull off something historic this year.
“There must be everything perfect to win everything, but if one team can do it then for sure Liverpool is one of them,” Shaqiri said.

“Everybody needs to be fit and healthy because injuries are always difficult to deal with. But Liverpool have a great team and they have dealt until now with everything.”
Injuries are unfortunately something that Shaqiri knows only too well. He struggled for fitness all too often during his three year spell with Liverpool.
He was also part of the squad that saw their chances of silverware made impossible by a punishing sequence of injuries to key players last season.
But having left Liverpool in the summer, the Swiss is enjoying watching Jurgen Klopp’s team from afar.
“I’m really looking forward to the end of the season how they’re going to finish, but I think everything is possible.”
Liverpool can go one step closer to the quadruple dream this evening. They take on another of Shaqiri’s former clubs, Inter Milan, for a place in the Champions League quarter-final.

What’s Shaq up to
Since leaving Liverpool for Lyon in the summer, Shaqiri has amazingly already moved on from the French side.
After failing to properly settle in Ligue 1, he joined MLS side Chicago Fire in January.
Shaqiri has played the full 90 minutes in both of his new team’s games this season, drawing 0-0 each time.
It’s disappointing to see the Swiss international fall from grace so rapidly. He is a player with undeniable quality who is capable of moments of magic on the pitch.

Truthfully, we didn’t see that enough during his time at Liverpool. But he still had his moments and left having made his mark on a Champions League and Premier League winning squad.
Hopefully a successful time in the MLS will result in Shaq getting another chance at a decent level in Europe.
In the meantime it sounds like he’ll be watching on with interest as Jurgen Klopp attempts to do something remarkable with Liverpool.
On signing for The Fire, Shaqiri said that Klopp had text him to congratulate him on the move. Let’s hope the Swiss is the one firing off a few congratulatory messages to his former manager in May.
