‘It’s really natural’: Klopp says Liverpool have a seriously ‘top player’, he barely even has to coach him

Jurgen Klopp has said that Luis Diaz is ‘the easiest player to coach’ for Liverpool at the moment.

The 25-year-old was again electric for Liverpool on Saturday night as they beat West Ham United 1-0.

Although he didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet, his manager still heaped praise on him following the game during an interview with BBC Sport (3mins 12secs).

“Top player I have to say. In the moment, the most easy player to coach because all the things he’s doing, they are pretty natural,” said Klopp.

“We tell him only how he has to defend and offensively he watched how the winger has to play for us, there’s not a lot of coaching necessary, it’s really natural like this.”

Klopp also praised the Colombian’s desire to fight for his new team.

“Very football smart obviously and incredibly big heart immediately for this team, he wants to fight extremely hard, he was good,” said the 54-year-old.

Diaz was recently called the ‘most exciting player to watch in the world’ by former Colombia striker Jackson Martinez. It’s barely a month into his Liverpool career and we’re already seeing why.

The goals will come

It’s true that Diaz looks as though he has been at Liverpool for years. It isn’t just the way he attacks opposition defences, he also seems to have struck up an immediate understanding with Andy Robertson.

Although Liverpool expect their wide players to be prolific, there is much more to their game than merely putting the ball in the net.

They have to press with intensity and work back to help the full-back. The all-round skillset needed makes the Liverpool wing arguably one of the hardest positions to play in world football.

It would be impressive if Diaz had come in and scored four or five goals, as he could have done. But what has stood out even more is just how effective the rest of his game has been.

As Klopp points out, it all looks completely natural.

He could easily have added to his one goal in red so far. But if he keeps playing the way he is then the goals will no doubt come.

The Premier League wises up

It could of course be that the element of surprise Diaz has given Liverpool will be something teams who play against them come to grow wise to.

However, such is Diaz’s quality, you would back him to break free from any shackles opposition try to force him into.

Besides, the beauty of Liverpool’s three-pronged attack is that if you put players around Diaz, that just leaves more space for Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Diogo Jota to hurt you instead.

Diaz is a player who gets you off your seat and we can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve next.
