Luis Diaz boasts a trait that Liverpool fans love, according to Graeme Souness. The Colombian is already making waves at Anfield.
Luis Diaz has only been with Liverpool a short while but it’s clear that they’ve got a special signing here. Diaz is a livewire and his skillset is one that complements the Reds to perfection.
That’s certainly the belief of Liverpool legend Graeme Souness. The Scot raved about Diaz for Sky Sports and was particularly keen to mention one skill he’s seen in the player.
“[Diaz] does that thing that crowds love,” explained Souness. “He loses the ball, sprints back and puts a tackle in to try and get it back.
“He goes past people for fun, he’s quick, direct – there’s a lot to like about him.”
Luis Diaz thriving at Liverpool
Diaz has hit the ground running, certainly. And that work rate Souness talks about has been on show from his very first minutes in Reds – he just doesn’t stop working.

That’s most obvious in how he chases the ball back but it’s not limited to that. Diaz is also eager to make runs in behind, doing so at a prolific rate. It’s a huge reason why Liverpool attacked down his side against Chelsea so often.
Diaz also drifts about the pitch at all times, looking for space and usually finding it. His sole goal thus far came that way – he went from left to right to find a starting position and then made the reverse run to find Jordan Henderson’s pass.
Having a constantly-working winger is exactly what Liverpool like and it’s reason no.1 why Jurgen Klopp has been so comfortable throwing him into the first XI. We always knew Diaz would be a good signing but no one saw him being such a remarkably fine fit.
