Jurgen Klopp has a plan in place for Roberto Firmino and his return for Liverpool. The Brazilian has been out with an injury.
Roberto Firmino has struggled with injuries this season, missing large chunks of the season for Liverpool. We imagine Sunday’s absence will particularly hurt – Firmino was unable to play his part in the EFL Cup final.
At the very least, however, it does appear that this won’t be a long-term absence. Jurgen Klopp explained on Friday that the plan is for Firmino to return quite quickly.
“I think the plan is he trains on Sunday,” he told a press conference. “So doable for Tuesday [vs Inter].”
Roberto Firmino should return for Liverpool soon
That’s certainly good news as there will be some tired legs by the time Tuesday rolls around. 120 minutes against Chelsea last Sunday meant Mohamed Salah sat out the FA Cup tie against Norwich City but Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz all played significant minutes in both.
And they’ll have to do the same against West Ham United tomorrow, too. There’s a real danger that one or two may be feeling it against Inter at Anfield – a massive game in Liverpool’s season.

We don’t expect Firmino to return to the starting XI on the back of two days’ training, though. But he should be an option from the bench and we imagine he’s a near-certainty to start against Brighton next weekend.
His return is a big one, then. Firmino has struggled with injuries in this campaign but his form has been very good – when he’s played. With any luck, this will be the last real period out for him as Liverpool head towards the business end of the season.
Because with a full-firing Firmino – along with the rest – the Reds feel pretty unstoppable.
