Jurgen Klopp is feeling good as Liverpool progressed in the FA Cup on Wednesday evening. The German achieved a first with the club.
It looked at one point as though Liverpool would run away with it at Anfield. Takumi Minamino bagged a first-half brace to send the team in at 2-0 against Norwich City – surely, it was only up from there.
But the second half saw a dramatic drop in tempo. The only subsequent goal came from Norwich, though they didn’t challenge Liverpool all that much. It was as routine a 2-1 win as you can imagine – and it sends Liverpool through to the FA Cup quarter-finals.
That’s actually a first for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, quite ridiculously. He’s never made it this far before, despite at least making the final in every other competition he’s coached them in.
“We’ve never been in a quarter-final? Okay. It feels good,” he told ITV after the game. He was all smiles and understandably so – there’s a real chance of another trophy here.

Can Liverpool actually win four trophies? Almost certainly not – doing so is extraordinarily difficult and even a dominant Manchester City side with the world’s deepest squad has stumbled every time.
But the Reds will back themselves to deliver at least a second trophy this season, adding to their EFL Cup win. Now, the Premier League and Champions League certainly take priority – they’re the biggest trophies in the game. But there would be a lot of satisfaction in Klopp delivering the FA Cup.
It would feel like him completing the set. In fact, no Liverpool manager in history has ever had a European Cup, League title, League Cup and FA Cup on their resume. Bill Shankly lacked the European Cup, of course, while both Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan fell short in the FA Cup.
Perhaps Klopp is on his way to his own slice of history, then. There aren’t many ways to stand alone at Liverpool but winning the FA Cup would give the German just that.
