Jesse Marsch thinks that Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino is ‘underrated in England’.
Writing for The Athletic, the former Salzburg and RB Leipzig manager gave his thoughts ahead of Inter v Liverpool.
The American shared his view that Firmino should still be a starter for Jurgen Klopp.

Marsch poses the hypothetical question of who should start against Inter on Wednesday. The 30-year-old Brazilian or the in-form Diogo Jota.
While most Liverpool fans would currently go for Jota, Marsch thinks Firmino should get the nod from Klopp.
His reasoning for this is that when his Salzburg side faced Liverpool in 2019, Bobby was the key for The Reds.
Marsch claims that whilst outrunning his teammates, Firmino could also be ‘clever with combinations’ and could ‘get in the box and be dangerous.’
Is Marsch right
It appears that Marsch is generally basing his views on the two games in which he faced Liverpool in his coaching career.

Those two games came with Liverpool well on their way to galloping to a Premier League title in 2019/20.
Judging from those games, he has perfectly captured Liverpool’s brilliant Brazilian.
But a lot has changed in the two-and-a-bit years since those games. The Roberto Firmino we see today is a little different to the one we saw then.
In 2019, Bobby was an absolutely irreplaceable part of the team. Injuries, poor form and the arrival of the irrepressible Jota mean that that is no longer the case.
However, the 48-year-old coach is absolutely correct in his observation that Firmino is underrated in England.

Despite his continued excellence over a 6-and-a-half year stay in the country, many still refuse to see his qualities.
Nevertheless, his place in Liverpool history is secure. Others have found the net more often, but his contribution to the success of Klopp’s Liverpool has never been measured in goals.
His tireless work and tactical brain have helped develop a system that has made superstars of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
It’s heartening to hear a coach as tactically astute as Marsch sing the praises of Bobby. But despite that, it would be a major shock if Klopp leaves out the red-hot Jota in the Brazilian’s favour tomorrow night.
