Jacob Ramsey is starting to make a name for himself at Aston Villa. With Liverpool potentially on the lookout for a new midfielder, The Reds should be monitoring his progress.
The 20-year-old midfielder scored two extremely well taken goals last night as Villa drew 3-3 with Leeds United.
Those were Ramsey’s fourth and fifth goals of the Premier League season. He has four goals in six games having hit something of a hot-streak under Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard’s management.

Gerrard has been full of praise for his young midfielder. The 41-year-old coach recently called Ramsey ‘outstanding in an interview with talkSPORT. He followed that up by saying that Ramsey can be ‘as good as he wants to be’.
The admiration between player and coach is seemingly reciprocated. The Villa academy product has said that he aims to be as a good a goalscoring midfielder as Gerrard was for Liverpool.
“Obviously I’ve been watching clips (of Gerrard) growing up,” Ramsey told BT Sport via talkSPORT.
“The gaffer was probably one of the best at that, a goalscoring midfielder, and that’s what I want to be.”
Why should Liverpool be interested
It’s no secret that Liverpool are in the market for a new midfielder. They didn’t fill the Gini Wijnaldum-sized hole that opened up in the summer.
There have been strong links to another Midlands-born midfielder, Jude Bellingham (The Mirror).

Ramsey is two years older than Bellingham. But he would be considerably cheaper than the £90m quoted to bring the 18-year-old from Borussia Dortmund.
This would no doubt appeal to Liverpool, who always look for maximum value in the window.
At 20-years-old Ramsey also has over 40 Premier League appearances to his name already. He looks to have taken his game up a level working with Gerrard.
Ramsey is the perfect age to soak up all the information he can from his manager. There isn’t a manager around who could teach him what Gerrard can.
As if that wasn’t enough, Liverpool cult hero Gary MacAllister is also on Gerrard’s staff. Ramsey could certainly learn a thing or two from a player who was excellent for The Reds.
The Liverpool connection

With Gerrard at the helm, Liverpool have an open line of communication with Aston Villa. We wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear that Jurgen Klopp has been picking Stevie’s brain about the midfielder.
Ramsey also looks to have struck up an excellent partnership with Philippe Coutinho. The ‘Little Magician’ set up both of his goals on Wednesday night.
A word in the young man’s ear about what those Champions League nights at Anfield are like wouldn’t go amiss, Phil!
