Diogo Jota is at the prospect of Luis Diaz at Liverpool after talking to a former Porto star. The Colombian winger appears set to make waves.
Everyone is rightly excited about Luis Diaz, the big-money signing at Liverpool in January. The Reds pounced to tear the winger away from Tottenham Hotspur at the death and got one of Europe’s most exciting players in the process.
We’re certainly excited ourselves. Diaz had an incredible 2021 where he exploded from a hit-and-miss winger into a goal machine. First came Copa America where the player won the ‘Revelation of the Tournament’ award as he finished joint-top scorer with Lionel Messi.
But some of the goals Diaz scored were simply outstanding. A late winner in the third-place Play-Off that was different class, while an overhead kick against Brazil earned high praise. He followed that tournament with 14 goals in 18 games for Porto. It’s a sensational record that convinced Liverpool to pay the money.
Diaz certainly looks special, then, but Liverpool star Diogo Jota wanted to know more. He says he talked to Sergio Oliveira – a player who has just left FC Porto for AS Roma – to find out more about his new teammate.

“I used to watch Porto a lot, I played there as well, so I know, for me, he was the best player in the Portuguese league,” said Jota, per Liverpoolfc.com.
“So I know his abilities and, for example, I had a chat with Sergio Oliveira, who is now in Rome, and he’s saying, ‘Now you’re going to score even more goals because Luis is an outstanding dribbler and he will get you those chances.’
“He’s a great player and I think he will be good in the Premier League and good for us obviously.”
We’re expecting plenty of goals from Diaz this season, of course. But if he means Jota scores even more, too, Liverpool are about to become outright unstoppable. Just about every angle of this transfer sounds exciting at this point.
Diaz looks like a great fit, he’s getting rave reviews, and we loved his debut. We can’t wait to see what the season holds from here.
