Jurgen Klopp believes Paulo Dybala can replace Roberto Firmino at Liverpool this summer, according to reports. The Argentine is out of contract with Juventus.
This comes from Tutto Mercato Web. They claim that Jurgen Klopp wants Paulo Dybala at Liverpool – if Roberto Firmino were to leave the club in the summer.
There is actually a decent chance of that. Firmino enters the final year of his contract this summer and Liverpool may feel pressure to move him on. He’s now over 30, after all, and a long-term contract could feel questionable.
Rather than losing him for free in 2023, selling Firmino for a decent price will at least be under consideration. And that’s where Dybala comes in.
The Juventus playmaker, described as ‘extraordinary’ by Max Allegri earlier this season, is out of contract this summer. Liverpool could sign him for nothing, potentially making a profit by swapping him in for Firmino.
It’s apparently Klopp’s preference – but only if Firmino is off.

This is a story that Tutto Mercato Web have pushed for over a week now. The catch is that it’s only really them pushing it – that doesn’t usually suggest a strong link.
But the facts are there. Dybala is out of contract, Firmino could leave, and we think the Argentine is actually an interesting fit for the Reds.
The truth is, Firmino is pretty much irreplaceable for Liverpool. His mix of work-rate, creativity, technique and physicality is unique and the team will suffer once he’s off. There are very, very few players capable of playing the False 9 role as Firmino is.
But they will need to replace him at some point. Perhaps that happens this summer and if so, Dybala would be a fantastic replacement in terms of quality.
Our big concern is his injury record but perhaps Liverpool can work around that. On paper, though, we’d be behind Klopp’s idea here.
