Liverpool are ready to move for Bukayo Saka in the summer, according to reports. Their chances hinge on success at Arsenal.
This comes from ESPN. They claim that Liverpool are ready to move for Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.
They’re not the only ones, however. Manchester City also love the look of Saka and will join Liverpool in any race.
It all puts Arsenal in a very difficult position. As Saka’s contract expires in 2023, they will be under intense pressure to sell at the end of the season – unless they can get him to agree on a new deal.
Their best chances at that, say ESPN, are if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League. That’s a big ask, of course, but could be enough to convince Saka that there’s long-term success attainable with the club.
Otherwise, both Liverpool and City will fancy their own chances of securing Saka.
Liverpool want Bukayo Saka
Reports have linked Liverpool with Saka since at least early 2020. He’s a long-term target, really, and someone the Reds clearly admire.
But then, who wouldn’t? Saka is one of the most exciting young attackers in the Premier League and Arsenal will want him as a major piece of their plan going forward. He’s a player Thierry Henry labelled a ‘hero’ earlier in the season, for one – his stock there is very, very high.
Liverpool, though, will see things the same way. They’re currently building an incredible squad of young players, with the likes of Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and Kaide Gordon all looking like nailed-on stars. There’s also the interest in Fabio Carvalho, of course.
Add Saka to that and Liverpool have an unbelievable future staring them in the face. It all depends on Arsenal’s season – and City’s level of interest, to be fair – but Saka really does feel attainable.
