Liverpool will be flexible in allowing Neco Williams to leave the club before Monday, according to reports. The Welshman wants out of Anfield.

This comes from the Liverpool Echo. They claim that Liverpool will allow Neco Williams to leave the club before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Williams wants out of Liverpool in order to secure first-team football. His chances with the Reds are very limited, after all, with Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of him in the pecking order. The Scouser isn’t much older, either, taking away any chance of a long-term role.

But the 20-year-old wants to play for Wales at the World Cup later this year – as well as qualifiers in March. His lack of football with Liverpool puts those plans at risk, making a move before Monday his best bet.

Liverpool, to their credit, recognise this and are willing to be flexible in any deal that sees Williams leave the club. They’ll settle for a loan with an obligation to buy, meaning any suitor won’t need to front the cash right away. That should, in theory, open more doors for Williams.

Neco Williams could leave Liverpool

Williams leaving would be disappointing. He’s actually been great whenever he’s stepped into the first-team this season, while some of his performances for Wales have been superb.

He reportedly trains incredibly well, too, with Jurgen Klopp once labelling him a ‘machine’ for his efforts. Williams is, usually, the kind of player you fight to hold onto.

But as we say, having Alexander-Arnold at right-back makes it difficult for any youngster coming through. Especially when there’s another young player in Conor Bradley fighting for the role – Liverpool are supposedly very high on him.

A move makes complete sense for everyone, then. Williams will almost certainly play at the World Cup if he can get first-team football and we’d be shocked if no one offered him that before the deadline.
