Liverpool are one of three sides to have made a serious approach for Denis Zakaria.
That’s according to ESPN who say that the Reds will do battle with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for the midfielder.
Zakaria, of Borussia Monchengladbach, will be out of contract in the summer. That means that his club are willing to listen to offers this month to avoid losing him for nothing.

ESPN report that the 25-year-old has also held talks with Manchester United and Juventus. But it is Liverpool, as well as the two German giants, who are currently viewed as his most likely destination.
Indeed, the Reds approach for the midfielder is described as the ‘most serious’ in the transfer update, which suggests that Klopp’s interest is very real.
It has previously been reported that a fee to take the Swiss international this month would be as low as £6 (The Mirror). That would represent a real bargain. Zakaria has played at the very top level and still has his best years in front of him.
Midfield reinforcements needed
Liverpool never really replaced Gini Wijnaldum last summer. The Dutchman’s ability to be available for every game has been missed this season.
That has lead to a raft of midfielders being linked with the club. As a result, the Zakaria links seem credible. It would also be shrewd business given the price being quoted.

We know that Liverpool don’t tend to splash big money on transfers. If a player of this quality is available in a position Jurgen Klopp needs to strengthen, for a fee as low as this, you can believe that Liverpool are interested.
In an ideal world, Liverpool would wait and get their man for nothing in the summer window. But Klopp has seen his midfield options depleted recently. With other big clubs sniffing around Zakaria, it may be worth to put a bid in and wrap a deal up early.
