Liverpool fans buzzing as Klopp 'finally' picks strong XI in Carabao Cup

Jurgen Klopp named a very strong Liverpool XI vs Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Thursday evening. Fans are buzzing with the call.

Liverpool host Arsenal in the Carabao Cup tonight and they’re going for the win. Jurgen Klopp named a very strong XI for the game – arguably, the strongest he could possibly name right now.

The Reds’ boss isn’t resting anyone, even putting in the likes of Virgil van Dijk. Van Dijk played against Shrewsbury on Sunday and will surely play again at the weekend – a lot of football for the star man.

It’s not entirely expected, either. Klopp very rarely puts out his star players in this competition, using it instead to build fitness or develop youth players. Very, very rarely do we see the strongest team out there.

We’re happy with the team and it’s one that should have the beating of Arsenal here. We’re not the only ones applauding the decision to play stars – many fans are buzzing that Klopp’s taking things seriously.

Now, to Klopp’s defence, he also put out his best team the last time Liverpool made the Carabao Cup semi-finals back in 2017. He did so again the year before, too. We can pretty safely say that this is the stage where he treats it as a proper trophy, then.

Though those games did come in his first two seasons and before Liverpool truly competed for the biggest trophies. You could understand if Klopp had ‘moved on’ from the Carabao Cup since then.

But that doesn’t appear to be the case. Liverpool and Klopp are going for the win here and they’ll hope to put one foot into the final against Chelsea.

We think this team is strong enough to do it – so let’s see what they can bring.
