Jurgen Klopp says Andy Robertson received ‘a knock’ in Liverpool vs Shrewsbury on Sunday. The Scot will be wanted to face Arsenal.
Andy Robertson picked up an injury for Liverpool against Shrewsbury Town. That’s according to Jurgen Klopp, who gave an update ahead of the Arsenal game earlier today.
Fortunately, it appears Robertson is fine to play – a big boost for Liverpool in what is a sizeable game. This is a chance to make their first EFL Cup final since 2016, after all, and they’ll fancy their chances of winning the competition.
Not that it will be simple. Liverpool need to get past Arsenal without either Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane – both are at the Africa Cup of Nations, of course. Thiago remains injured, too, as do Divock Origi and Harvey Elliott.
Robertson being fit to play is a big boost, then. As is both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson returning to training ahead of the game.

Robertson wasn’t the only positive update, though. Klopp also says that Elliott looks ‘really promising’ right now and isn’t too far from a return to team training.
Now, he certainly won’t be ready to face Arsenal on Thursday, nor will we see him at the weekend. But it sounds as though Elliott could be a real option before too long.
That’s certainly an exciting prospect, given his ridiculous form to kick off this campaign. We’re certainly excited to see what Elliott can bring on his return, even if Liverpool need to take time easing him back in.
As for Thursday, it appears Liverpool will have a decent squad to choose from. Salah and Mane are big misses, of course, but there are ways Klopp can cover for them.
Having Robertson and Alexander-Arnold on the flanks, though, is a massive boost.
