Loris Karius will hopefully find himself a new club during January. That’s the view of Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg.

Speaking to The Athletic, Actherberg said that it’s up to Karius to find himself a way out of Anfield this month.

“In the end it’s down to him, his agent and the club to try to find a solution” the long serving Achterberg said. “Hopefully there will be one this month.

“It doesn’t help anyone to sit for another six months without the feeling that you are really fighting for something. That’s not going to improve him. He needs to use his quality to make a career now. Loris has a lot of good qualities.”

Karius has become something of an outcast at Liverpool. Many may even be surprised to learn that he is even still at the club, given that he hasn’t been part of a matchday squad in over the last three years.

Karius has spent most his recent time out on loan, firstly during a rocky two-year stint at Besiktas before he had a rather disappointing time at Union Berlin last season.

The German was available last summer but there were no takers. He returned to Anfield where is currently fifth choice. There is no chance of him playing for Liverpool again and with his career in danger of fizzling out at just 28, Achterberg is keen to see him gain regular football somewhere.

Karius will leave Liverpool one way or another in the next six months. Unfortunately he will be remembered for all the wrong reasons at Liverpool. His blunders in the 2018 Champions League final in Kiev are infamous. But he deserves the chance to put this behind him and hopefully he can resurrect what was once a promising career.
