Jurgen Klopp says Gomez, Phillips FIFA 22 ratings are ‘a joke’

Jurgen Klopp couldn’t quite believe certain Liverpool ratings on FIFA 22. The Reds’ boss called them ‘a joke’.

How good are the ratings on FIFA 22? Not very, according to Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool boss came to learn a few of them in a promotional video for Sky Sports and really couldn’t believe what he was hearing.

Klopp helped rapper and TV personality Big Zuu through some shooting drills, with the idea being that the German would score him by FIFA standards. That quickly fell apart, however, when he learned how Nat Phillips and Joe Gomez scored in the game.

Now, Mohamed Salah is the best Liverpool finisher on the game with a 91 rating. Phillips and Gomez, however, score 23 and 26 respectively. Big Zuu went through a finishing drill that saw him up against a goalkeeper with a tire in each corner.

“I’m at least 80,” said Big Zuu after scoring one fine finish that smacked off a tire. Klopp disagreed, however.

“Honestly, I put Nat Phillips here and he’d score 500 in a row – through the tire,” he said.

And when Klopp found out that Gomez had only a 24 for volleys, he felt he had to send a message to EA Sports.

“I have to say, FIFA, that is not alright, not okay what you’ve done with Gomez,” said Klopp. “Absolutely not right – it’s a joke.”

Jurgen Klopp can’t believe Liverpool FIFA 22 ratings

Not the first time someone from Liverpool has had an issue with FIFA ratings, of course. Jordan Henderson was shocked to learn he had a lower pace rating than Trent Alexander-Arnold last year – and wanted an argument about it.

Now, of course, none of this matters and FIFA isn’t a game that actually shows off football particularly well. Judging by Klopp’s reaction, though, certain stats are way, way off and not reflecting just how good elite footballers are.
