Sadio Mane might be a little under threat at Liverpool with reports of recent transfer targets. The forward is coming to the end of his contract.
Liverpool have an interesting summer coming up. All three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will enter the final year of their contracts. If they don’t agree new deals by then, the temptation to sell will be huge.
After all, Liverpool surely can’t afford to lose such valuable players for nothing. There’s another consideration, though – all will be over 30.
Is that a forward line you invest into long-term? We’re not entirely sure all three will get new contracts, not unless Liverpool feel generous with their money.
It’s particularly interesting, then, that all of Liverpool’s recent transfer targets play from the left-wing. That would suggest that Mane’s position is a little under threat.
Will Sadio Mane leave Liverpool?
A Bola reports that Liverpool like Luis Diaz – as have several reports from Portugal over the last few months. Diaz is a very exciting left-winger and one who just continues to get better. His £67m release clause looks expensive now but might not if he’s Mane’s replacement.
The Athletic, on the other hand, believe Arnaut Danjuma is the one Liverpool want. He, too, has a release clause – £62m. He, too, plays on the left-wing.
And thus is feels as though Liverpool are shaping up to replace Mane, rather than the others. There’s an argument that they’ve already replaced Firmino with Diogo Jota, of course, but we’re certainly not seeing big-money links to right-wingers. Couple it with reports that Liverpool’s ‘priority’ is Salah’s contract and it’s Mane who looks under threat.
This summer, then, truly could be the end of an era. Liverpool look ready to move on to something new.
