Report: Liverpool target Arnaut Danjuma boasts £62m release clause

Liverpool are looking into a transfer for Arnaut Danjuma, according to reports. The Dutchman boasts a significant release clause.

This comes from the Athletic. They claim Liverpool have eyes on Arnaut Danjuma and continue to track the winger.

In fact, there’s a definite price on Danjuma, too, as the report claims he has a £62m release clause at Villarreal. It’s a price that could end up looking very tempting for Liverpool.

Danjuma has really caught the eye at times this season, with Michael Owen labelling him ‘absolutely exceptional’ after a performance at Old Trafford. But the Dutchman’s raw numbers also stand up to that price.

He’s got nine goals in 18 games this season, playing primarily from the left-wing. He’s versatile enough to play centrally, too, though. If Danjuma keeps this up, Liverpool could be looking at a 20-goal winger who only joined Villarreal last summer.

Liverpool look at Arnaut Danjuma transfer

£62m for a 24-year-old (Danjuma turns 25 later this month) who can consistently score goals from the left-wing isn’t too bad. Especially as all of Liverpool’s wingers tend to dramatically boost their scoring output once joining the club.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota all exploded into life after Liverpool paid fairly large fees for them. There’s a sense that Danjuma could do the same.

The only real issue – and we’ve pointed this out before – is that Danjuma was available in the summer and Liverpool were linked. Villarreal signed him for around £20m but he could cost three times that come the summer.

It would be a bit frustrating and does seem to go against Liverpool’s desire to spend sensibly. But perhaps seeing Danjuma thrive in a bigger league was necessary for their interest to get serious.

Certainly one to watch, though. Danjuma could well be the big signing next summer.
