Jurgen Klopp says he doesn’t know if Chelsea vs Liverpool will happen on Sunday. The Reds suffered a real blow earlier today.
Liverpool suffered a serious blow on Friday as Jurgen Klopp announced there had been three positive Covid-19 tests. Now, he couldn’t confirm who the players are as they await PCR results but it doesn’t look good.
In fact, those are just the results from players. Klopp says more and more staff are suffering positive results, suggesting things are getting far worse rather than plateauing.
Now Klopp can’t actually guarantee that Chelsea vs Liverpool goes ahead – the Reds could well ask for a postponement.
“Not yet, but we don’t know,” Klopp said on asking for a postponement, per Liverpoolfc.com. “We never had this kind of proper outbreak where 10, 15, 20 players had it, for us it’s more every day another one.
“Staff happens now more and more often, so as I said before it feels like a lottery in the morning when you stand there and you wait for the result. It was now pretty much day by day always one case – today another one.
“We have to wait, the boys are not even in yet, so we have to wait. In this moment, probably not but we don’t know how it will look in a few hours.”
Will Chelsea vs Liverpool happen?
It doesn’t look good but we still imagine the game will happen. If only because Chelsea have just as many issues and there’s no suggestion they’ve asked for a postponement.
But it’s a serious blow, even before we know for sure who the players are. Certain stars missed training to end the week, leading to speculation among fans – we won’t join in on that until Liverpool offer confirmation, however.
Regardless of who it is, Liverpool won’t boast a strong squad at Stamford Bridge. Andy Robertson misses out through suspension, there are a handful of small injuries, and now three players look set to isolate.
If the game does happen, it’ll be a tough one – even with Chelsea’s injuries.
