Liverpool have put in a ‘very interesting offer’ to sign Franck Kessie on a free transfer, according to reports. The AC Milan midfielder will have suitors.
This comes from Italian outlet Ansa. They claim that Franck Kessie has a ‘very interesting offer’ from Liverpool as his contract continues to wind down.
Kessie is out of contract in the summer, meaning he will almost certainly leave AC Milan for nothing. In fact, he can agree a pre-contract from Saturday if he wants – though, waiting may bring more offers.
After all, Kessie is available without a transfer fee and is still only 25. There’s real potential for him to score a massive long-term contract with the right club. It just remains to be seen if that club is Liverpool.
Liverpool make Franck Kessie offer
If Liverpool can sign Kessie on a workable wage, then it’ll be one of their best value-for-money transfers in a while. There’s little doubt about that as the Ivorian could conceivably play at the top level for another six or seven years.
He’s already a brilliant player and an effective one, too, as Kessie helped Milan secure Champions League qualification last year. And there’s room at Liverpool after Gini Wijnaldum’s exit.
We’ve mentioned Kessie as an ideal replacement in the past – Liverpool, of course, didn’t immediately sign anyone to take the Dutchman’s spot last summer. Using a free transfer to replace Wijnaldum would be perfect, given the nature of his departure.
So this is certainly one to watch over the coming weeks. Kessie is a brilliant player and if Liverpool can oust the competition, there’s potential for a fantastic transfer here. It just depends on what that competition ends up being.
There’s talk of Paris Saint-Germain, for instance, who would certainly cause problems. Wrapping this one up early would be in Liverpool’s best interest, then.
