Liverpool could sign an international teammate of Naby Keita, according to reports. The Reds supposedly want Aguibou Camara.
This comes from Foot Mercato. They say Liverpool really like the look of Aguibou Camara and have watched him on several occasions this season. That’s something that backs up previous reports from Greece.
Camara is enjoying a wonderful first senior season at 20 with Olympiacos. He left Lille in the summer to go there and quickly showed he’s a player with great potential.
He’s capable of playing in both an attacking midfield role and a wide midfield role – something that would work wonderfully at Liverpool. The Reds ask their midfielders to drift into wide positions, interchanging with wingers and full-backs. Camara may be able to do that naturally.
And there are also very easy comparisons with a player already at Liverpool in Naby Keita. Both players are Guinean attacking midfielders who want the ball at their feet, after all. Foot Mercato are very happy to immediately make those comparisons.
But this won’t be a routine signing, it seems. Newcastle United also like Camara and can almost certainly offer him a stronger role in the side. They can likely offer him more money, too – Liverpool might need to get used to this kind of competition from the Geordies.

Will Liverpool unite Naby Keita and Aguibou Camara?
If Newcastle’s interest is serious, then a move to Liverpool looks unlikely. The Reds already have plenty of attacking midfielders – young ones, too, in Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones. We just can’t see them offering wages or playing time above what Newcastle can offer.
But then it’s hard to know how serious Newcastle are in any transfer these days. They’re linked with every player on the planet right now and they can’t sign them all. If they do head in another direction, Camara could end up being one to watch for Liverpool.
