Takumi Minamino wants to remain at Liverpool for as long as he can and, after his heroics in the Carabao Cup, fans will be delighted to hear that.
The Japanese international didn’t just beat the Liverpool badge. He just about tried to tear it out of his jersey.
That is the passion and desire you get from Minamino. It’s why he is so loved by Jurgen Klopp and it’s why I’m so happy he took his chance yet again.
We are finally seeing the best of the former RB Salzburg star after the Reds bought him for £7.25m in January 2020. It shows exactly why you don’t judge Klopp’s signings until they get the chance to really prove themselves.

Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas proved this and even Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is showing now that players need time.
Naby Keita is another much-maligned player that deserves more credit but has only struggled due to injury. He was unreal against Leicester and his ability to receive the ball and increase the tempo no matter where he was impressed me.
Minamino displayed hitherto unseen predatory instincts in the box under immense pressure. He received the ball in the box in a situation where he had to score or Liverpool lost. That is essentially as much pressure as you can place on an attacker.
His response? He took the perfect touch and dispatched the perfect finish. What impressed me even more as a Liverpool fan was how his pent-up passion and love for the club and fans was released in his celebration.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Takumi Minamino has revealed that he would like to remain at the club for the rest of his career.
He said: “I am at the best club in the world and I can spend the best time of my career at this club. As I have said before, I would like to contribute to this club as much as possible. That is the best thing I can do.
“I have been having a very good time at this club. It was my childhood dream to play for Liverpool. I used to enjoy watching Liverpool matches, and the Premier League is one of the most popular leagues in Japan.
“It was one of my dreams to play in this league so I’m having a really nice time here and I would love to contribute even more.”
