Report: Mohamed Salah wants Liverpool to strengthen amid Haaland links

BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke recently said that Los Blancos are interested in adding the Norwegian to their ranks, saying “I only know for sure that Real Madrid is very interested in him.”

He said this on Bild-TV but, then again, who wouldn’t be interested in signing a striker who has 19 goals and five assists in 16 matches this season.

Haaland chase is on across Europe – who will win?

Chelsea recently signed Romelu Lukaku for £97.5m and Cristiano Ronaldo rejoined Manchester United as part of a £12.9m deal which could rule them out of the race to sign Haaland in the summer.

Apparently, all Italian sides are ‘not an issue’ and Barcelona cannot afford him.

Sky Sports Germany reports ‘that leaves Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool’ and the forward has a €75million (£63.9m) release clause according to Fabrizio Romano.

Haaland is reportedly second choice at the Santiago Bernabeu as they view Kylian Mbappe as the holy grail. That is according to transfer expert Marc Behrenbeck.

Liverpool reportedly want no.9 to boost Salah talks

Behrebeck states ‘Liverpool is looking for nines’. Despite the Merseysiders lack of financial potency, “We hear that a new nine is to be fetched there in the summer.”

Mo Salah is in talks with Liverpool over a new contract and the Egyptian wants to be the highest-paid star in the Premier League in accordance with his status as the best player in England’s top flight and, right now, the world.

Sky Germany’s article states that signing Haaland would further improve Liverpool’s ability to keep Salah at Liverpool. They say: “Salah demands further reinforcement.”

Does Jurgen Klopp actually need Haaland?

I take major issue with this report. While he might not be a traditional no.9, Diogo Jota is playing at an incredible level right now and is snapping at Mohamed Salah’s heels.

The Egyptian has 15 Premier League goals and is head and shoulders above everyone else in the Premier League. He leads the way in terms of goals scored but he also has the most assists (15), the most shots (71) and has scored some outrageous goals.

Yet, Jota is right up there with him. The Portuguese forward has 10 goals and is proving to be a marksman. I don’t think many fans would turn their noses up at Haaland joining the club but Jota is showing that he has everything it takes to be at Liverpool Football Club for a very long time.
