Gary Lineker says Mohamed Salah is wonderfully imaginative

Against Newcastle United, Mohamed Salah scored or assisted for the 15th time in a row in the Premier League, equalling the top-flight record.

The Egyptian is so good at the moment that scoring his 22nd goal of the season before Christmas hasn’t received that much attention today.

Granted, it was a rebound but he is reaching silly numbers and it’s becoming the norm. Salah started the game like a man possessed and he was running at the Newcastle defence as if he were tasked with getting at least one take-on completed before having a shot on goal.

Liverpool are blessed to have a player as blessed with finding the back of the net as Salah. At the moment, he is reaping the rewards of Sadio Mane’s form as well, with the Senegal star in fine form but playing more of a supporting role, as his fantastic pass to Diogo Jota for the equaliser highlights.

Gary Lineker took to Twitter during the game to describe the Liverpool no.11. He said: “I love watching Mo Salah.

“Wonderfully imaginative footballer who plays with a smile on his face. Then again, so would I if I was that good.”

It is a massive shame that Liverpool will lose him for a month due to AFCON as it interrupts his ability to set and break records for the Reds.

Even if he is able to break his own records, there will still be the nagging feeling he could have done so by a greater margin.

However Liverpool fans, by and large, could not care less whether or not he wins the Golden Boot, smashes the records that lay ahead of him or not, unless the Reds lift silverware this season.
