Liverpool are making their first steps towards signing Denis Zakaria on a free transfer, according to reports. The Borussia Monchengladbach man has an expiring contract.
Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool are looking to sign Denis Zakaria. At the very least, they’re asked for more information on the player from his agent.
Zakaria has an expiring contract and appears set to leave Gladbach next summer for nothing. That has several clubs looking at the player.
Liverpool are among those, along with Bayern Munich – he is a talented Bundesliga player, after all.
But journalist Angelo Mangiante believes those two aren’t alone. Both West Ham and Everton want Zakaria, apparently, and could push for a move.
The English trio hold an advantage, of course. They can begin negotiating formally with Zakaria at the end of this month. They’re allowed to agree a pre-contract for a summer move and it wouldn’t cost them an extra penny.
With that in mind, there’s a need to be quick here. All three would want to get this deal over the line before other clubs get the same idea or, more importantly, Bayern can offer Zakaria something.
Liverpool look into Zakaria free transfer
This one makes a lot of sense. As we’ve written before, Zakaria may not have room to fit in with a January arrival but a summer transfer sounds good for Liverpool.

Zakaria is a good fit stylistically, he’s at an age with room for growth (25) and can arrive without a transfer fee. What’s not to love?
This is one to watch, then. There won’t be many better deals available than Zakaria on a free transfer and Liverpool could get a very solid Gini Wijnaldum replacement for nothing. Fingers crossed, then, that they can wrap this one up quite quickly.
