Video: Virgil van Dijk watches on as Thiago and Fabinho battle in midfield versus Wolves

Virgil van Dijk is making a habit of getting caught on camera in the background supporting and encouraging his teammates this season.

It has become a staple of Liverpool’s breakaway goals to see van Dijk celebrating early. It’s quite normal to see the Dutchman in the background holding his arms up in celebration as the Reds are about to score.

The 6’4″ centre-back does have the best view on the pitch at times and so he can see the openings as they appear.

Against Wolves, he was afforded a front-row seat as Fabinho and Thiago showed their quality. They put on a masterclass in midfield counter-pressing. Adama Traore, despite all his muscle and pace, was only able to escape his markers a few times.

Van Dijk watched on as Thiago and Fabinho shut down both Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore as Liverpool desperately looked to find a winner.

The below clip just underlines why the two Liverpool midfielders are perfect for each other. They love to win the ball back and Thiago is world-class at dictating the tempo and finding unmarked teammates.

Irish Guy Predicts GW14 Premier League Results

While Liverpool might not have the squad depth of their rivals, they have the fight and desire to win the Premier League this season. As the Wolves game showed, Jurgen Klopp’s ‘Mentality Monster’s will fight until the very last minute.

As Henry Winter said after the game, “Late goals aren’t luck. They’re persistence.” I think that sums Liverpool up quite well.

You can rest assured that this side will push and fight until it is no longer mathematically possible to win the title. Hopefully it ends with the Reds parading through the streets as they weren’t able to do so after the 2020 title win.
