Liverpool drawn to face Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup Third Round

Liverpool fans are mostly delighted as the Reds have been drawn to face Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup Third Round.

While Jurgen Klopp and his players are currently preparing to face AC Milan in the final group stage game of the 2021/22 Champions League, they will be over the moon to learn they have been drawn against Shrewsbury.

It’s great news as it means Liverpool have avoided being drawn against a Premier League side, so the need to go strong in the early stages of the FA Cup has been reduced.

Liverpool boss set for more criticism?

Jurgen Klopp was criticised last year for his approach to the FA Cup, as Peter Crouch said it was disrespectful for the German to name a very weak side, urging him to approach these clashes with more respect and appreciation for the smaller teams in the competition.

Yet, from the Liverpool manager’s point of view, why would he play his best players in the game when the U23s can get the job done, gain some first-team experience and save his key men from potential injury in an easy fixture.

Klopp was slammed last season for playing Diogo Jota in a dead rubber Champions League clash and the Portugal star got injured. The outcry would be even louder if the likes of Virgil van Dijk picked up a serious injury in a game he isn’t needed.

Liverpool fans are delighted with FA Cup draw

You won’t find many Liverpool fans that are disappointed to have avoided a Premier League team in the FA Cup Third Round draw.
