Liverpool should have eyes on Antony in the upcoming transfer window. The Brazilian winger continues to shine for Ajax.

Fabrizio Romano believes Liverpool want a winger in the transfer window – and for good reason.

“Liverpool are looking for wingers because in January they’ll be losing [Mohamed] Salah & [Sadio] Mané,” Romano told his Here We Go podcast.

“No panic buys – only if they have a good opportunity they’ll do it.”

Now, there are a host of names Liverpool could look at. It all depends on how much they want to spend, with Rafinha one that keeps popping up.

As we’ve said before, though, it could be a compatriot of Raphinha’s that catches Liverpool’s attention. Antony continues to shine for Ajax and did so again on Thursday evening.

Is Antony the transfer for Liverpool?

Ajax hosted Willem II last night and it was Antony who opened the scoring. The Brazilian opened up on his left foot from 25 yards, curling onto into the far corner magnificently.

It’s the latest in a long line of wonderful moments from the 21-year-old. He’s shining brightly this season, in both the Champions League and Eredivisie.

In fact, he got the third goal in that game, too, as he drilled a shot through a crowd into the bottom corner. It seems that Antony finds a way to influence every game he plays.

That’s particularly true in the Champions League. He’s played four games in the competition this season, scoring one and assisting a ridiculous five.

He has an expected assists rate of 2.0 per 90 – that’s higher than three teams in the Group Stage. It’s incredible stuff and Antony just keeps looking impressive.

This is a player who moves the ball forward both with dribbling and passing. He creates chances, gets shots off and averages over one tackle & one interception in the Champions League.

We don’t know what Antony would actually cost in January. It would certainly be less than Raphinha – that much is obvious.

And if Liverpool decide they need to sign cover, while also providing themselves with a wonderfully-talented young player for the future, Antony could be their man.
