Dion Dublin applauded Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as the Liverpool player enjoys some good form. The Reds can certainly benefit from having him back to his best.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is enjoying a fantastic time right now – his best in years. The 28-year-old is consistently in the Liverpool lineup and while injuries to others play a big part in that, it’s about time he had things go his way.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was once a regular in the first XI, of course. A horrendous injury in 2018 robbed him of his spot, however, and the Reds had a European Cup-winning team by the time he returned.

He’s had some opportunities since then but nothing particularly consistent. Certainly not like the six games in a row he’s currently on.

Even better, Oxlade-Chamberlain is playing well. We’ve been very impressed in recent weeks and it feels as though he’s finally established himself as a true option once again.

His pressing, in particular, shines. Oxlade-Chamberlain consistently wins tackles now – three against both Arsenal and Atletico Madrid – really adding extra bite to the midfield.

Throw in his brilliant dribbling & drive and Liverpool have a very solid midfield option.

That’s something BBC pundit Dion Dublin points out, suggesting that Oxlade-Chamberlain looks better than he has in some time.

Oxlade-Chamberlain hits great form

“A lot of the time when people aren’t in the eyeline people think they become bad players,” Dublin told the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast.

“But he’s back in the side, he’s looking fitter and he’s looking leaner.

“We know what he can do when he plays every week and he gets into the swing of things, he’s a very good footballer and if he can get games, he’s a good player, he’ll be valuable.”

We agree that Oxlade-Chamberlain looks sharper and more dynamic than in recent seasons. Perhaps he’s fitter, perhaps he found some momentum – either way, Liverpool benefit.

So long may it continue. We’re really impressed with Oxlade-Chamberlain right now – finally, he’s a really valuable option for the Reds.
