It’s Liverpool v Arsenal tomorrow and the Gunners are impressing Jurgen Klopp right now. They’ve enjoyed a remarkable turnaround.
Arsenal didn’t enjoy the finest start to their Premier League season. Mikel Arteta’s team lost their first three games without scoring goal, including some embarrassing performances against Chelsea and Manchester City.
They’ve turned things around quite remarkably, however. Arsenal haven’t lost since and now sit just two points behind Liverpool in the table – their opponents tomorrow.
A win at Anfield would move them ahead of a Reds side considered to be in a title race. That’s certainly good going, then, and Jurgen Klopp sang Arsenal’s praises on Friday.
Klopp on Arsenal
“It was always clear they would come back,” he said, per Football Daily. “The way they came back is not normal because since then they’ve had an incredible run of results.
“They are good. They know they were lucky in one or two games … but these things are what you need to get results right. And that’s what they did.”
Klopp’s right – even if things haven’t been smooth for Arsenal, they’re grinding out results as well as anyone right now. They’ll head to Anfield with real confidence, knowing they can force things their way against Liverpool.
And so the Reds should be prepared for that. This isn’t a game where everything will go their way and Liverpool can expect to come up against a confident side.
We haven’t always been able to say that about Arsenal in recent years.
In contrast, Liverpool have dropped five points in their last two games. They’ll want to get back to winning ways, of course, but Arsenal aren’t the best side to do that against right now.
Quite honestly, this could be a tough fixture v Arsenal for Liverpool.
