Liverpool could move for Renato Sanches in the January transfer window, according to reports. The Reds have a real shot at a long-term target.
Calicomercato claims Liverpool have eyes on Renato Sanches. They report their interest along with AC Milan, Inter and Arsenal – competition is quite fierce, then.
And they’re not the only ones saying that Sanches could be up for grabs. Le10Sport in France say similar, though they don’t mention Liverpool.
But Liverpool’s supposed interest in Sanches has been reported for some time. Fabrizio Romano said as much in the summer, Le10Sport said it late last year, and Tutto Mercato Web at a similar time.
No, not the strongest Liverpool sources in the world and, obviously, none of those reports proved true. Sanches very much isn’t a Red.
Renato Sanches in January?
Liverpool surely will enter the transfer market in January, though likely for a winger. AFCON will rob the Reds of both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane – a reinforcement would go down well.

There is a chance they move for a midfielder, however. After all, Gini Wijnaldum left in the summer and Liverpool never replaced him. It’s never too late to add an extra presence in there.
Especially as both Jordan Henderson and Thiago are the wrong side of 30 now. Long-term replacements make sense and while there’s no dire need right now, Liverpool will be looking.

The question is whether Sanches is the right player. He’s certainly the right age – 24 – and has all the talent in the world. At his best, the Portuguese midfielder looks unstoppable.
But injuries and form mean Sanches hasn’t fulfilled his enormous potential – yet. Liverpool may fancy their chances of getting the best out of him. They’ve done similar before.
It sounds as though Lille will look to sell Sanches, though, and potentially as soon as January. If they do, Liverpool should at least have a look – he could be the Wijnaldum replacement many want.
