Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Adama Traore and it has been suggested that a player swap deal could prise him from Wolves’ clutches.
A report in August from 90Min suggested it would cost £40million (€47m) to sign the Spanish winger and that Jurgen Klopp is ‘fixated’ on signing him but nothing materialised.
Now, with Wolves battling to get Traore to extend his Wolves contract, it’s being reported by 90Min that Liverpool are being rivalled by Barcelone for his signature.
The Express speculates that Liverpool could chance their arm with a player swap for one of Divock Origi, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Nat Phillips, with the latter my pick.
The jury is still out on Traore. Blessed with genuinely unbelievable pace but an inability to convert his strong running, power and dribbling ability into goals, it’s no surprise that big clubs haven’t snapped him up.
A winger that neither scores nor assists is of no use to the best clubs in the world and I don’t think signing him purely for his ability to surge through the middle of the park would be wise.
If it came to it, spending £40m on Traore, a flawed but obviously talented player, or spending around £10m less on Karim Adeyemi would be the much wiser move.
He’s 6 years younger, has Champions League experience and is already the more productive player in attack, with 15 goals and 2 assists compared to Adama Traore’s incredible return of 0 goals and 0 assists in 10 Premier League games.
