Jonathan David is available for a transfer, according to reports. The Canadian can be a future star for Liverpool.
Le10Sport claims Lille will look to sell Jonathan David. They signed the player from Gent back in 2020 and his development has been quite remarkable.
Unfortunately, Lille also need money and that means they’re more than open to offers for the striker. The likes of Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain supposedly have eyes on the situation.
And we believe Liverpool should, too. David could be their next star striker.
Jonathan David available for transfer
Liverpool appear to rate David highly already. The Liverpool Echo claims, among others, that the Reds had him on their list before signing Diogo Jota.
And it’s easy to see why. David fits Liverpool’s style of play wonderfully well, establishing himself as a fantastic pressing forward last season.
That’s exactly what the Reds want, of course, in a long-term successor to Roberto Firmino. David excels at linking play, pressing hard, and creating space for others.
It’s a huge part of the reason why Lille were able to win Ligue 1 last season. David formed a partnership with Yurak Bilmaz that proved too much for French defences.
We can only imagine what David could do with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, then, as well as Jota. And that’s not even all of it.
David impressed last season but there was one thing that held him back from stardom – goals. He finished the campaign with 13 in Ligue 1, which is a great number for a 20-year-old but a level below the stars in his age group.
That’s changed this season, however. David is currently Ligue 1’s top scorer with eight in 10 starts, just ahead of Kylian Mbappe.
This is a young striker with all the tools to deliver in Liverpool’s system, score goals, and deliver trophies. To top it all off, he’s currently helping Canada to World Cup Qualification alongside Alphonso Davies.
We think David could be something very special, let alone a great fit for Liverpool. If Lille really are ready to sell, the Reds should get involved.
