TuttoJuve reports that Liverpool and Manchester City have opened talks to sign Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco for £42million.
The Reds let Georginio Wijnaldum leave in the summer after deciding to let his contract expire and now, with the Dutchman playing for PSG, Liverpool have to find a replacement.
He should have been replaced in the summer but Ibrahima Konate was the only player that Jurgen Klopp added to his squad.
Tchouameni is now on Liverpool’s list of targets, according to TuttoJuve, as they have reportedly opened talks over signing the AS Monaco star.
The 21-year-old is so impressive that he is already a regular in France’s senior squad and now, Liverpool and Man City have opened talks with Monaco, enquiring about their valuation of the no.8.
Reportedly, they want £42million to part ways with Tchouameni but it’s not going to be easy to sign him as Real Madrid, Juventus and Chelsea are all interested.
The report goes on to say that Chelsea are in pole position to land the ace due to thier willingness to pay £51million.
Tchouameni is just what Liverpool need after parting ways with Wijnaldum as he is a tenacious ball-winner, tall and strong but also blessed with great control on the ball and the ability to drive through midfield with power and purpose.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool can outbid Chelsea but after not spending much on transfers recently, they have the funds to make a major signing that would improve the starting XI considerably.
