Fernando Torres feels one Liverpool player is in the top ‘two or three’ in the world right now. The Spaniard was back at Anfield on Wednesday evening.
Fernando Torres is unquestionably one of the finest strikers we’ve ever seen at Liverpool. In his prime, the no.9 was capable of just about everything you’d want.
He worked hard, had incredible pace & strength, and finished unlike anyone else. It’s a shame it ended how it did but few can question Torres’s impact at Liverpool.
In fact, very few since have reached a higher level. One of those is currently at the club, however – Mohamed Salah.
And it’s quite clear that Torres believes Salah is one of the absolute greatest in the world right now.
Torres on Mohamed Salah
Liverpoolfc.com asked Torres if Salah was the world’s best right now – his answer was pretty emphatic.
“One hundred per cent,” he said. “I think not only this year, the last two or three seasons have been amazing.
“You’re always talking about individual trophies for players when they win trophies at the same time, but I think he has been one of the best two or three players in the world in the past five or six years. It’s amazing, the consistency.
“You can see he breaks all the records and keeps scoring goals.”
Atletico Madrid legend Torres was hardly going to give his vote to Karim Benzema but it’s great to see the love for Salah. As we say, the Egyptian is one of the few players to surpass what Torres did at Liverpool.
And right now, he probably is the world’s best player. No one else matches his goals, assists, work rate and overall influence.
We’re talking about a player who dominates every Liverpool game, with or without the ball. The fact the Reds remain undefeated is a sign of just how effective Salah is.
