Kingsley Coman could force Bayern Munich into a sale in 2022, according to reports. The French international may just get the attention of Liverpool.
Sky Germany reports that Kingsley Coman remains on the way out of Bayern Munich. His contract expires in 2023, meaning a sale looks inevitable next summer.
Coman has been at Bayern Munich since 2015, initially joining on loan from Juventus. He’s gone on to become an established player there, even if he’s never actually played more than 28 Bundesliga games in a season.
But there’s little doubt that Coman is a winner. He’s contributed to a title every season he’s played with Bayern, as well as scoring the winning goal in the 2020 Champions League final.
Yet he seems to want something new. As Sky point out, not signing a new contract only makes a transfer inevitable next summer.
And Liverpool, surely, will have eyes on the situation.
Coman sale draws near
Sport1 claimed in the summer that Coman’s agent sought interest in the player. He asked several clubs around Europe, with Liverpool being one of them.
The Reds gave a positive response, too, as did Manchester United. United, however, ended their interest upon signing Jadon Sancho.
Liverpool didn’t sign an alternative, though, and it’s reasonable to believe the interest is still there. In fact, that interest may grow as next summer draws closer.
It’s a signing that would be a risk, certainly. Coman hasn’t ever reached that elite level but may want wages reflecting that. It’ll come down to the potential Liverpool see in him.
And honestly, we wonder if they see something special. Coman is about as experienced a 25-year-old as it gets, having won the lot at club level across three clubs.
His pace, dribbling and overall threat suit Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp may fancy his chances of improving Coman. If he can do that, big wages won’t see problematic at all.
Liverpool could conceivably get five years out of Coman at a very high level. Bayern would likely sell below his actual value, too, given his contract situation.
The Reds could secure a superstar – if they back themselves to develop him further.
