£50m Raphinha could be yet another bargain for Liverpool

Raphinha could become a bargain signing for someone – including Liverpool. That’s if an agent is correct about his price.

Liverpool supposedly like the look of Raphinha. That’s according to Deco, the player’s agent.

Deco said last week that Liverpool asked about Raphinha over the summer. They made some approaches but never reached the stage of putting an offer on the table.

That was apparently because Leeds United didn’t want to sell. They wanted to wait at least another year before letting go of, arguably, their most valuable asset right now.

“Raphinha has become an important player in the Premier League,” said Deco, per Globo Esporte. “The club knows he has grown and things will happen naturally.

“He’s young, he has many challenges ahead. There are certainly several clubs that like him, and Liverpool do like him, there were approaches, but nothing official.

“Leeds wanted to keep him for another season.”

But if Deco’s right, Liverpool will surely go back in for the Brazilian later in 2022. And that could cost them around £50m, apparently.

Bargain Raphinha

Brazilian outlet UOL recently talked about Raphinha’s with some agents – including Deco.

The former Barcelona & Portugal playmaker mentioned how he didn’t understand Transfermarkt’s valuation, believing he’d cost more than the roughly £30m they have done.

Then Eduardo Uram, another agent from the country, says he can see Raphimha’s price reaching around £50m.

“What will determine the price is the level of the club that signs him,” said Uram. “If it’s Manchester United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea, the price could reach around £50m.

“What determines the price of a player is the market he hits.”

Well, Liverpool do appear to be involved for Raphinha. And in our estimation, £50m for Raphinha could be an absolute bargain down the line.

He’s still only 24 but looks like a magnificent Premier League player, even in a team that isn’t quite clicking together right now. As Raphinha moves into his prime years, he could become truly special.

Raphinha is a player the fans are high on, while he’s already showing comfort in the Premier League. The latter is a trait Liverpool like, having signed Gini Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk & Diogo Jota for sizeable fees.

And at £50m, we think Raphinha could be another value-for-money signing like the rest of them.
