Some Liverpool fans lavished James Milner with praise after his display against Watford. The 35-year-old put in an all-action performance.
Liverpool ran out 5-0 winners over Watford on Saturday. It was a sensational display from the Reds, who didn’t give their hosts an inch.
As for which players stole the show – the front-three stand alone. Roberto Firmino bagged a hat-trick, Sadio Mane scored one and created another, while Mohamed Salah produced two moments of magic that we’ll talk about for some time.
But they certainly weren’t the only Liverpool players earning praise with their performance. James Milner, in particular, had Reds applauding him after the game.

Milner certainly impressed us, too, and he was magnificent in a box-to-box role from start to finish.
His work for the second Liverpool goal really stood out. Milner received a pass from Firmino between the lines before finding Mane and continuing his run on the overlap.
He then received the ball back and cut it across goal for the Brazilian to tap home. It was a brilliant display of work-rate and intelligence – essentially, everything you want from Milner.

And on top of that, the 35-year-old was getting on the ball as often as anyone. He won three tackles, made an interception, and put himself about the pitch as few can.
So Milner deserves all of this praise and then some. With midfield options lacking – Fabinho, Thiago, Curtis Jones & Harvey Elliott were all out – the veteran stepped up.
And at the end of the day, that’s why Milner has stuck around for so long. Few players can offer that type of reliability and he’s been doing it for nearly 20 years.
It makes him a truly remarkable player and one Liverpool are lucky to have.
