Here’s our predicted lineup for Liverpool against Watford tomorrow lunchtime. The Reds have yet another issue to contend with.
Throw in problems with Brazilian players and the Reds have a lot of thinking to do. Here’s how we think they might line up.
Alisson misses this one after Brazil’s very late fixture this week. It means Caoimhin Kelleher will almost certainly be between the posts here.
The rest of the defence is, thankfully, fine. We imagine Trent Alexander-Arnold will be at right-back again but the other three are up in the air for good reasons.
Games against Atletico Madrid and Manchester United follow this – Klopp may want to rotate. The boss talked up Joe Gomez in his press conference, for instance, and the 24-year-old may well partner Ibrahima Konate at the back.
Kostas Tsimikas can step in for Andy Robertson, too. Our only worry is that weakness in midfield may encourage Klopp to go full-strength at the back. We still think he’ll rotate a bit, though.
Fabinho is out for the same reason as Alisson, while Thiago, Jones and Harvey Elliott are all injured. That leaves Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The captain is the only first-choice midfielder of the lot, so we imagine he starts. As for the other two spots, Milner and Keita perhaps make the most sense. Though, saving Milner for Tuesday might make even more sense.
It’s a tough one and we’re really not sure what Klopp does here.
Fairly routine, here. Jota’s knock in midweek means we think he’ll sit this one out from the start. That leaves a comfortable Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino front-three.
They’ve played together a few times before and should be fine.
Predicted Liverpool lineup vs Watford
Alexander-Arnold – Konate – Gomez – Tsimikas
Oxlade-Chamberlain – Keita
Salah – Firmino – Mane
