Multiple reports believe Liverpool are right in the mix for Franck Kessie and a move could happen next year. The AC Milan midfielder is nearing the end of his contract.
Reports in both Italy and Spain believe Liverpool are ready to move for Franck Kessie. Gazzetta Dello Sport, for instance, has the Reds are the front of the queue with Paris Saint-Germain.
Mundo Deportivo says similar but with Barcelona in the mix, too. It appears that whoever signs the player would have to muscle a few other giants out of the way.
Franck Kessie on the move?
Kessie reaches the end of his contract in 2022 and it appears increasingly unlikely that he renews with AC Milan. The primary reason for that seems financial.
Gazzetta Dello Sport previously reported that Milan had offered Kessie around £110k-a-week but the Ivorian is chasing over £130k. It’s a pretty sizeable difference considering Milan feel that’s a high offer already.
Liverpool, though, could be ready to offer more. PSG certainly could. The question then becomes about who can offer Kessie more, then, as well as where the player wants to end up.
On the face of it, PSG probably have the upper hand there. They have more financial might than anyone and offer Champions League football as a given alongside several superstars.
But Liverpool can almost certainly offer Kessie a better standard of football and development. There’s not quite the same Champions League guarantee, given the strength of the Premier League, but the Ivorian would still be at an elite club that pushes for honours.
Perhaps it comes down to PSG’s attitude. If they blow Liverpool out of the water financially, this one is done. Otherwise, we think Liverpool could really tempt Kessie with a solid place in their squad.
