Alexander Isak scored a wonderful goal for Sweden at the weekend. It has some Liverpool fans desperate for his arrival.
Alexander Isak is a special player. He’s massive, yet somehow moves across the pitch like a player half his size. He’ll score all types of goals, too, from fox-in-the-box tap-ins to 25-yard strikes.
And we got a wonderful example of the latter this weekend as Isak scored for Sweden against Kosovo. The 22-year-old put it all on display.
Isak drifted over to the left flank after Sweden had a corner cleared. He received a pass with two defenders around him but a quick nutmeg got him out of trouble.
The Swede then held off a defender before curling one into the top corner from outside the box, all while falling over. It was a miraculous goal and Isak made it look pretty routine.
We’ve been big fans of Isak for some time now and this was a moment that showed off his enormous potential. He really does feel like an ideal signing for a team like Liverpool in need of an out-and-out centre-forward.
And Liverpool supposedly have interest. Noticias de Gipuzkoa reported over the summer that the Reds were looking at Isak – but it appears that Real Sociedad are eager to hold onto the Swede.
Nevertheless, Isak’s goal has some Liverpool fans eager for the Reds to push for this one. The 22-year-old – who scored 17 times in La Liga last season – is a signing they shouldn’t pass up.
Fans on Isak after Sweden goal
Isak hasn’t found his feet for Sociedad yet this season – though, injury hasn’t helped – but he’s scored a couple of wonderful goals for Sweden over the last few months.
The magic, then, is certainly still there and we’re sure it’s only a matter of time before he’s scoring consistently in Spain again. And if that happens before the end of the season, we’ll be banging the Isak drum pretty hard.
There’s a very special talent here and one Liverpool should have both eyes on.
