Harvey Elliott uploaded a video of his workout to Instagram Live. It certainly put smiles on some Liverpool fans’ faces.

Harvey Elliott’s injury last month was heartbreaking. The 18-year-old was excelling with his first taste of regular Premier League football, getting better and better every week.

It certainly caught us off guard – we didn’t believe Elliott would be ready for such a step up. After all, he only turned 18 in April and had one senior season under his belt.

Yet there he was, starting against Chelsea in the Premier League. Unfortunately, Elliott suffered a nasty injury against Leeds United and it’s one that will keep him out for some time.

While there’s still some hope that he’ll play again in 2021/22, Liverpool have to assume he won’t be back. Any games he does play are simply a bonus.

But there’s still that chance and Elliott’s latest Instagram Live video suggests that chance is a pretty good one. The teenager is already doing bike work in the gym.

Fans react to Harvey Elliott video

Fans are certainly getting the impression that Elliott is ahead of schedule – though, that might not be the case. His work here is definitely a good sign but it suggests he’s merely on track, rather than beating the odds here.

Dr. Rajpal Brar suggested on Twitter that this is ‘nothing out of the ordinary’ for an elite footballer. You can still see Elliott’s crutches in the video, while the bike work is pretty low-intensity for his ankle.

So maybe we need to temper expectations a tad here. Elliott is certainly doing well and making progress – that’s plain to see. But there’s a way to go and still plenty of time for setbacks and complications.

Fans will certainly want to keep an eye on Elliott, though. Hopefully, the teenager still has a part to play this season.
