Some Liverpool fans took to Twitter to react as Curtis Jones picked up an injury on international duty. He’s the latest Reds midfielder to have a problem.
Harvey Elliott has a serious ankle injury – we won’t see him for some time. Thiago’s injury is quite mysterious and there’s little telling when he’ll be back.
Then Naby Keita hurt himself kicking the grass.
Liverpool have had some problems in midfield this season, then. Jurgen Klopp has started all three in big Premier League games this season but his first-choice players just can’t stay fit.
And unfortunately, it seems there’s another injury to worry about. Journalist Nick Mashiter reported on Thursday evening that Curtis Jones missed England Under 21s fixture with a knock.
He later reported it as a ‘tight groin’ – England will assess him ahead of their next international.
But it’s yet another issue at a time when Liverpool are already struggling for available midfielders. It’s understandable, then, that some fans took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the news.

Honestly, though, this shouldn’t be too surprising. Jones has played an awful lot of football lately, starting for Liverpool across three competitions.

In fact, no one has played more than Jones over the last few weeks. He got his first start of the season against Norwich City in the EFL Cup and then started consecutive games against Brentford, Porto and Manchester City.
The last three were high-intensity fixtures, too. While Jones played incredibly well, that much football will take its toll.
So we’re cautiously optimistic that the 20-year-old will be okay. Hopefully, this is just a minor issue brought on by fatigue.
