Liverpool need to regenerate the front line in the coming transfer windows. The Reds’ attack is getting on in years and the older they get the more their market value decreases. Next summer Liverpool need to sell either Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane.
Time for change
At the minute Jürgen Klopp has four players effectively covering three positions.
This means that an injury or two can force us into fielding a significantly weakened side.
Furthermore, the boss isn’t able to rotate and rest as often as his competitors can.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has an embarrassment of attacking talent at his disposal, meanwhile Jürgen Klopp has to run his best players into the ground.
Not only are we short on numbers but each of the famed front three will turn 30-years-old before the start of next season. Bobby Firmino will be 31 in October next year.
It’s time to look at the next attacking lineup, we need youthful additions.
Liverpool have to sell a key star
Liverpool got a bargain when they paid £34m for Sadio Mane.
He has gone on to become a crucial part of the Reds’ all conquering success.
Likewise, Roberto Firmino has carved out a unique role for himself as a defensive yet creative false nine.
Given that Mo Salah is untouchable and we need to bring in a top quality young forward in the next window Liverpool will have to sell either Mane or Firmino.
This is both to make room for an incoming forward of sufficient quality (a top class player won’t want to be left on the bench) and to raise money for a suitable signing.
We can’t afford to wait another year with both players’ contracts expiring in 2023. Next summer the club have a difficult decision to make.
If the club keep ahold of both of them then we risk heading in the same direction as Barcelona with ageing stars raking in massive wages as their market value plummets.
