Jamie Redknapp believes Virgil van Dijk is already having a positive effect on teammates. The Dutchman is helping one star to the ‘form of his life’.
Jamie Redknapp is certainly full of praise for Mohamed Salah – but who wouldn’t be? The Egyptian is thriving right now, scoring goals for fun and leading Liverpool forwards.
We’ve seen brilliance from Salah before – from day one, really – but there’s a feeling that he’s currently the sharpest he’s ever been. Redknapp certainly seems to think so.
And he puts a lot of that down to having Virgil van Dijk back.
“Salah’s all-round game right now is phenomenal,” he told Sky Sports. “His work rate, his desire, his goals, his assists. I haven’t seen him in better form.
“He’s confident, strong and he’s got the bit between his teeth. He’s enjoying having the likes of Virgil van Dijk back and knowing he’s playing in a team that can win the title again.
“As I say, he’s in the form of his life right now.”
Redknapp hails Van Dijk influence
We think Redknapp has a point here – Salah is thriving in a team that’s winning games. Van Dijk is obviously a huge part of that as Liverpool are undeniably a more dominant side with the Dutchman at the back.

But we will point out that Salah scored 31 goals last season in a team that struggled badly. Liverpool lacked rhythm, consistency and structure as an injury crisis tore through the squad.
Salah stepped up to keep things ticking along as best he could, though. 31 goals in that side is truly remarkable and it perhaps went under the radar a little.
Now, though, Salah is continuing that form and maybe playing slightly better now that structure is back. Having Van Dijk and co. back in the side certainly helps – but the Egyptian has been thriving for a while.
