'Serious baller': Liverpool fans wish for Arnaut Danjuma after Old Trafford display

Arnaut Danjuma put in a performance to remember at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Now some Liverpool fans want him at Anfield.

Well, Manchester United beat Villarreal on Wednesday. It took a late – and probably undeserved – winner from Cristiano Ronaldo but they did it.

There was at least one reason for Liverpool fans to smile despite the winner, though. That’s the performance of Arnaut Danjuma, who proved to be a handful at Old Trafford.

Liverpool fans certainly liked what they saw as they took to Twitter to praise Danjuma. This is a player they’d like to see in a Red shirt.

Danjuma was certainly lively. He gave Diogo Dalot a torrid time, constantly running at him and making things happen.

In all, Danjuma dribbled past players three times, created two chances, worked the keeper twice and was just a menace to United. He got the assist for the opening goal, too.

It was fairly inevitable that he won UEFA’s Man of the Match award for the game, despite losing.

Villarreal may be disappointed with the result but at least they’ll feel secure that they signed a good one this summer. They paid Bournemouth £21m to bring in Danjuma – and that might be a bargain.

Liverpool reportedly wanted him, according to Marca, but didn’t actually make a move. Though, that’s just how the Reds’ summer went.

We were quite surprised they didn’t bit, honestly. Danjuma fits the bill for what Liverpool want really well – from being a tricky winger who makes things happen, to pressing at a high level.

The good news is that the Reds supposedly still want him. Voetbal International claims they had people watching Danjuma at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

He’ll certainly cost more than that £21m now but Liverpool could make a move down the line. A Sadio Mane successor, perhaps?
