Liverpool enjoyed an emphatic win over Porto this week. The Reds were in fine form throughout the game with one player standing out above all of the rest. Fabinho has been lavishing praise on Curtis Jones after his man of the match performance.
Liverpool thrash Porto
You’ve got to wonder at some point why Porto keep having us over to theirs.
Surely eventually they’ll just forfeit straight up rather than suffer the embarrassment.
Since the start of the 2017/18 season we’ve been to the Estadio do Dragao three times and won those three ties with an aggregate score of 14-2.
Once again the entire traditional front three was on the score sheet.
Mo Salah bagged a brace, as did Roberto Firmino whilst Sadio Mane got one of his own.
However, despite the goal grabbing exploits of the forwards it was Curtis Jones who stood out against Porto.
Fabinho on Curtis Jones
The Scouser delivered a real coming of age performance against Porto.
He was involved in every single goal the Reds scored and he was just as good without the ball, constantly winning possession back with determined pressing.
Speaking to the club site after the game, Fabinho was full of praise for Curtis Jones:
“He’s a really good player…Physically, he’s really good and then with the ball, we know if we give the ball to him he will turn, he will create something special because he’s a really talented player.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool have a gem on their hands in Curtis Jones.
The Scouser was unplayable on Tuesday night, he made himself undroppable ahead of the Sunday visit from Manchester City.
Fingers crossed he can deliver the same level of performance when the pressure is on against the champions.
