Liverpool utterly battered Porto this week (again). The Reds dominated throughout as they made it six points from a possible six in the Champions League. After the game Liverpool linked Fabio Vieira was full of praise for the Reds.
Liverpool thrash Porto
It has become something of a routine for Liverpool to obliterate Porto in the Champions League.
The two sides have faced each other at the Estádio do Dragão three times since the start of the 2017/18 season. Liverpool won those games with an aggregate score of 14-2.
This time out it was a 5-1 thrashing of the hosts.
Curtis Jones was at the centre of everything for Liverpool with the Scouser delivering a real coming of age performance.
The young midfielder ran the show with his determined pressing, direct dribbling and smart decision making.
Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino bagged a brace each whilst Sadio Mane got one of his own.
Fabio Vieira on Liverpool
Over the summer CMJournal linked Fabio Vieira with a move to Liverpool.
The outlet claimed the Reds were prepared to offer £17m for the youngster.
This week the 21-year-old midfielder came on off the bench to face Jürgen Klopp’s side. He provided a delightful assist for Mehdi Taremi.
“We left this game sad, of course. We knew from the start it was going to be an extremely difficult game against a Liverpool team that’s one of the best in the world, with the best players in the world.”
What RTK has to say
Liverpool interest in Vieira makes plenty of sense.
The Reds have connections to the Portuguese game through Pep Lijnders and the country’s top flight academies keep on producing top talents.
We saw just how good Vieira is last night, he was a shining light in a poor side.
Hopefully we make our reported interest concrete in the future.
