Liverpool have one of the strongest first teams in the world. As a result it’s quite difficult to break into the senior set up from the academy. Temporary moves are necessary. Gary Rowett is delighted to have Sheyi Ojo on loan from Liverpool.
There is a number of players out on loan from Liverpool at the moment.
Sepp van den Berg has returned to Preston having impressed at Deepdale last season.
Joining him in the Championship is Rhys Williams. The centre back who stepped up last term has joined Swansea for the season.
Another defender in the second tier is Ben Davies with the February signing joining Sheffield United.
Meanwhile, north of the border Ben Woodburn has joined Hearts.
A number of academy players have been sent out for experience with Leighton Clarkson pulling the strings at Blackburn Rovers and Luis Longstaff at Queen’s Park.
Gary Rowett on Sheyi Ojo
Sheyi Ojo has joined Millwall for the season.
The 24-year-old failed to secure a permanent move away as expected but such is his attitude he still took part in the U23s mini derby with Everton.
Eventually he was sent to the second tier and he’s impressed at the Den.
Gary Rowett is delighted to have Sheyi Ojo at Millwall, the boss told the South London Press:
“He is going to be a very, very good player for us.
“He looked bright, he carries the ball well and has got the ability to beat a player one-v-one. He has lovely balance to come out of positions with the ball when he is in tight areas.”
What RTK has to say
Hopefully the winger continues to impress in the Championship.
His contract at Anfield is up at the end of the season and he’ll need to invite offers.
A strong campaign in a tough division should convince some potential suitors to come in for him next summer.
